Building another amp

  • I've decided to build another amp. This time a Allen Accomplice Jr. blackface (Deluxe with 6V6s but a Vibrolux with 6L6s). This is a time lapse of the last one i built a few years ago. Still have the amp ... loved the experience. I'm ready again. But I'm gonna "tweed" this one to match some tweed cabs I already had built. I have a bit of the itch again.

  • Can't wait to see some of this. I've had the itch to build an amp for a while. I was going to go for a Mission 5E3 (?), but Java keeps telling me to just go for a JTM 45 because they're pretty easy. Even though that's easy for him to say.

  • Started considering a couple of things and made a couple of adjustments.  Instead of going with a head cab that was unfinished tweed, I decided to adjust the kit to a 1x12 combo cab (dark brown with wheat grille).  I decided I really didn't want to fool with the tweed in the end.  Also, I really wanted a "grab & go" as all my amps are currently head/cab units.

Got it all worked out. Another $80 including an added Eminence RW&B.  I feel that was a good adjustment and I won't risk fouling it up.  Enough just to build the amp right!

  • The amp kit I settled on was an Accomplice Jr.  - it looks like this as a 1x12 combo:

But I selected the following color scheme ... rough dark brown with wheat grill:

  • Original Fender Concert Plumage you know. :thumb: My best one was from that era. The Vinyl had a wonderful smell. ;)

  • Yes, it's from that classic Fender look.  Actually, my Fender Acoustasonic Pro has the same look - except a brown face plate.  I've always liked the look.

  • Called to check if I would get a tracker when the kit shipped.  It shipped Friday ... Out For Delivery!  I should get the kit today - the combo cab in a few weeks.
