Mick Green
« on: October 14, 2013, 05:11:53 PM »
When I first started messing around in bands and playing low-rent gigs with my mates, the big influence on me (including my tele deluxe - couldn't get hold of a custom) was Mick Green of the Pirates.  I was also heavily into his "mini-me" Wilko Johnson.

Not exactly sophisticated guitar players (although Mick G played with Englebert Humpedink in Vegas, Bryan Ferry, Van Morrison and Paul McCartney), but they just fitted my teenaged sense of bluesy aggression perfectly.

Here's Mick in the Pirates - I always thought they deserved a better singer (obviously in the first incarnation, they had one....)

Here's the original Pirates with Johnny Kidd - Mick's playing showing the characteristic style circa '63

Here's Wilko showing his technique and influence along with the fact that he can't sing for toffee either......

Here's a slightly more mellow Mick.

I'm back - am I the same person or just a clone of myself?

If you lend someone ?20 and never see that person again, it was probably well worth it.

Yes - the same session as on the video of Lonesome Train by the looks of it.

By the way, Mick's influence on me didn't extend to me wearing stripey pirate trousers
