An event put together by the media students at the local college - very impressive logistics and technically very slick.

I'm in the Simon Kemp Orchestra about 56 minutes in.

    Excellent stuff David. ;)

  • That's just fantastic David ,nice to see you performing , and you where spot on  bout the logistics and technicality .

It's such a shame about the government cut backs in funding to media and performing arts , the students work so hard and put everything into it .

Was that part of the media students final year assessments !

  • Thanks guys - a really interesting experience.  As far as I know Johnny it was part of the final year assessment.

I was in the studio once for a live old grey whistle test broadcast and it was not as well organised as tonight was!  My job was to keep out of the way and try and look like I was supposed to be there....

A weird thing is how totally different the sound balance is on the clip to how it was in the room.  Everything was miked up and it took a while to get the back line volume down to a point where the singers could hear themselves and the mix in the fold back was good.  Normally I don't mind if the only thing I can hear is my guitar, but they had a point!

Even so, my guitar  was pretty loud on stage, and when I trod on the trusty Strange Mistress to play my little solo lick it was just below feed back level.  Not loud in the broadcast though - about right.

  • It looks like they updated the link, and I can't find it in the archives. Do you have a more direct address to link to it?

  • Hi John

It's down for a while - I believe they are tidying up the editing.  When it's back up I'll bump this thread.
