New guitarist
« on: January 28, 2015, 11:27:11 AM »
Hi everyone. I'm new to playing the guitar. Needed to find something to do instead of smoking lol. I've got a Squire by Fender acoustic guitar.
I can't play a guitar, without my guitar string "twang"

Hi Andrew,

Well done on quitting the stinkies. Guitar playing is far better for you, BUT, you'll soon discover that it eats away at the savings you are making by not buying fags  :D :D

So, what would you like to be able to play and have you arranged any lessons or anything? If not, we are great fans of https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBNkm8o5LiEVLxO8w0p2sfQ/

Hi Rob. Not arranged any lessons as I want to teach myself lol. Don't want to play any song in particular, just be able to pick up a chord sheet and have a good go.

Great stuff. Once you have a few chords feeling familiar, I would recommend this site for tabs of songs, they are some of the more accurate ones on the net. http://www.songsterr.com

Another useful site is this one for learning Chords etc  http://www.chorderator.com/cgi-bin/designer.py

I'm sure others will be along to make recommendations too. Johnny English has a really good Chord site that he found, but I lost it somewhere.

Chorderater is good as Rob says.

Good luck and enjoy the ride.
I'm back - am I the same person or just a clone of myself?

Welcome to the forum.

Nothing much to add except a big PLUS ONE on the justinguitar site. Also if your just setting out you might want to start at http://justinguitar.com/en/BC-000-BeginnersCourse.php rather than youtube. If you use justin's web site then you get the lessons in a well chosen order.

I like to spell peddant with two Ds. That always annoys them.

Welcome to the guitar grounds forum ,I know this sounds like a stuck track but I also highly recommend justinguitar.com as a wealth of learning the guitar from a newbie to advanced , check him out on YouTube he does the beginners chords so you can nail all the open chords to start you on your playing .

Well nail the open chords and that hundreds of songs to play  ;D
