The volute........
« on: February 10, 2015, 05:23:27 PM »
What is a volute for?   I know what one looks/feels like because my '73 SG11 has one - here it is:

Is it for resonance enhancement?  Looks?  Strength?  Ease of construction?  What?

Also - why is it called a volute?  The dicitionary refers to a volute being a spiral or scroll.
I'm back - am I the same person or just a clone of myself?

Originally designed to strengthen the weak area where a Headstock and Neck meet.
"Volute" i.e. Scroll, think about a Violin's neck and the change as it reaches the Peg Head? ;)
"I am not a lunatic. I have the psychiatric report to prove it. A slender majority of the panel decided in my favour."

If you lend someone ?20 and never see that person again, it was probably well worth it.

So does that mean that they were only used on SGs?
