Youtube Links / Saddle/Nut Comparison - Sotos Bakas
« Last post by SotosOpeth on September 29, 2016, 03:06:51 PM »
Hello! :)

I thought to share with you a tone comparison I did on saddles and nuts made by different materials.
Every saddle/nut material has a different sound, some are highlighting more the high frequencies, or low ones, have more/less sustain etc. They all sound different and depending on the sound of your instrument and the sound you are looking for as well I hope it will help you to choose your favourite one.

Please use headphones or studio monitors for more detail on the differences.

The guitar I am playing is a custom made Pellerin guitar with Adirondack top/East Indian Rosewood b&s made by luthier Michel Pellerin.

Please feel free to share this comparison with any string instrument players that might be interested. Much appreciated!

Composed, recorded, mixed and mastered by me at my home studio in Hilversum, Netherlands.

Have a great day guys and thank you so much for checking the comparison!
Hope it helps!

It looks like the line out from the mixer can go into the rear panel into one of the "Line In" jacks. If you're trying to go into the mixer, maybe the analog out jacks for monitors would work.

Here's a link to the manuals:
Acoustic Guitar / No earth/ground wire on an acoustic?
« Last post by mickrathe on August 02, 2016, 10:29:22 PM »
This may sound dumb, but i don't know so that's why i'm asking!

I've just bought one of those simple all in one pickup systems for my acoustic, a single coil connected to volume and tone pots, connected to a jack. Easy to install. But my question is why is there no earth/ground wire? If i put this onto an electric, i would have to ground it wouldn't i with the black wire from the back of the bridge? So why do this not have one, and does it need one? (if so, surely they would include it).

OK, so you have your guitar tuned to open D? Before you do anything else, just use your index finger as a Barre  and move around the neck. Sounds better? You bet it does! When you are in the majority of Open Tunings, the chord positions that you already know from Standard Tuning, mean very little anymore.
It really is a matter of experimentation, don't forget, you can get some amazing things happening by just using one finger and letting the drone effect of the Open D work its magic.
Start by fretting your 4th string at the 12th Fret and then strum ALL the strings, then try moving your finger either down, or up the same string whilst strumming them all.
